Lesson Plan (Revised Version)

Theme: Shopping
Standard: Primary school, Standard 3 (30 students)                      Date: 6/3/2014
Duration: 80 minutes
Proficiency level of students: Intermediate
General objective of the lesson:
a) To familiarize students with language appropriateness
b) To introduce students with simple and complex sentence structure  
c) To allow students to express themselves in educational manner

Learning Outcomes: At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
a) Provide appropriate lexical items to be applied in certain context/situation
b) Utter simple and complex sentences in a role play
c) Converse in a single role play
d) Demonstrate on the lexical items and sentences learned in a role play

Values:
a) Allow students to be cooperative among each other.
b) Teach students to be a good listener.
c) Educate the students to spend their money wisely.

Previous knowledge:
The students are Standard 3 pupils,which they already had basic English Language knowledge that they acquired since kindergarten. Ideally, they have been exposed to the language well

Come to class and greet the students
Show a 2 minutes video clip to the students to attract their attention

Ask the students on what they are going to learn in the lesson based on the song that they just listen.

Ask further simple questions regarding to the topic to generate their speaking skills. 

Stand up and greet back the teacher

Listen to the song and sing along.

Respond to the questions asked by the teacher.

Students participate and share their experiences.

Pay attention to the answers given by other students.


Activity 1 – Lesson

Explain and teach the students about the topic
-   Introduce them with vocabulary related to shopping
-   Different types of shops

Instruct each student to surf the website using computers provided

Ask the students to play the game provided in the website related to the topic learned.

Evaluate their understanding of the lesson by looking at the marks acquired.

Students will listen attentively to the lesson given by the teacher

Students get to their computers and they will surf the website

Students will play the game available on the particular website related to the topic learned.


Activity 2 – Role Play

50 minutes
Show a 3 minutes short story video to help students understand more about the particular topic and assist them in the activity later.

Tell the students that they have to perform a role play.
Theme: Buying a present for a friend’s birthday.

Divide the students into groups of 5.

Ask them to sit with their group mates and brainstorm on what they are going to present in 3 minutes. 

Ask each group to perform in front of the class in 7 minutes

Evaluate the performance of the students by looking at the lexical items used and sentence construction.
Watch and listen attentively to the video

Follow the instruction given by the teacher.

Work together as a group to come out with creative performance.

Listen to the performance of each group and note some new words heard from the presentation
