3)   Communicative stage: At this stage, we discover a lot of new things that we never know before this, they were not thought by the lecturer such as the extra types of shots.

Reflection 2: Lesson Plan

Reflection 3: Computer Mediated Communication Task

Allah has given us the ability to convey our intended meaning to other people. Back then, people communicated mostly through face to face or writing a letter. However, as the world goes through modernity, various mediums of communication being invented and one of them is Computer Mediated Communication (CMC). BY using CMC, people can communicate effectively regardless of their time and place. As Allah mentioned in Surah An-Nisa’, verse 114:

“No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or that which is right or conciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allah - then We are going to give him a great reward.”

Thus, from CMC, we can see how people use language in many ways to convey meanings.

Reflection 4: Mini Research Proposal

We were given a task to do mini research proposal on Computer Application in Language Learning (CALL). We gained lots of benefits from this assignment:
1)      We are able to explore other helpful material in language learning which is electronic dictionary.
2)      We have a better understanding on CALL and it will be useful for our future career
3)      We are trained to think out of the box. We were asked to think of research that could be done in the area of CALL.
4)      Thus, we are able to explore areas in CALL and suggest a research that could be done which shall benefit to the enhancement language learning.

Reflection 5: Discourse Analysis Blog

In this course, we were asked to create and design our own blog about one of linguistics subjects that we have learned in IIUM. Our group chose Discourse Analysis subject as our theme of the blog. However, none of us are familiar with blog. Thus, in completing this blog we learned many new things regarding blog creation. It exposes us to a new way of spreading and sharing knowledge to others especially those who are interested in discourse analysis. Besides that, in the process of creating this blog, we can sharpen our creativity and critical thinking skills. We have to think out of the box in order to make the blog looks interesting and able to attract the readers to read our blog. From, this assignment we also can apply the knowledge gained to create our own blog with the same purpose in the future. Hopefully, our blog can help other people in understanding more about Discourse Analysis. InsyaAllah.

HOW ISLAMIC WE HAVE BECOME

During our enrollment in IIUM, we have realized that we are entering into a well-established International Islamic university. Our parents were very happy sending us to this university and by that day, we were started dreaming our bright future for the next four years during our Convocation Day.

Our early days in IIUM, we were required to attend Study Circle and some of us were required to attend Fardhu Ain classes according to the results of Fardhu Ain Placement Test. During the Study Circle, we had lots of discussion on Islamic teachings, al-Quran and Sunnah. They had improved our knowledge and understanding besides of exchanging ideas and knowledge between the members and facilitators.

Other than that, we have many Islamic talks in IIUM. There are lots of religious talks, seminars and forums on current issues regarding to Islam. They are organized by students’ clubs and societies in IIUM. Most of the programs are free and it helped us for deeper understanding on Islamic teachings.

Lastly, throughout our study years in IIUM, we changed a lot in terms of personality, Islamic awareness and knowledge. We are so grateful to be parts of IIUM family as it shapes us to be a better Muslimah in the world and the hereafter.
